Hello all,
I have had an average week, there is nothing to complain about but at the same time nothing mind blowing has occurred. This weekend I went to go see Wreak-it-Ralph with my nerds from Carry and my two closest friends. It was absolutely adorable. My closest friends, who are female , cried a few times and even the guys thought it was a super cute movie. I am not going to give any details but I thought the little girl reminded me of a younger version of myself. Needless to say she was my favorite character.
After the movie my father picked me up and I went home for the weekend. I hung out with my brother a lot which might sound lame but when the two of us are together there is never a dull moment. Especially when I am driving. He manages to find the most outrageous music and blare it out the windows while we drive down the road. One moment we will be listening to some french techno band and the next there is a dub-step remix of the theme song to The Legend of Zelda. We get a lot of weird looks at stop lights. One really horrible thing I discovered this weekend is that my brother is now noticeably taller than me. He used to only be an inch or two taller than me but now he is almost a head taller than me. He is only 15! I was hopping to have maybe a year or two more of the vertical advantage. Oh well at least now I don't have to get a step stool to grab something off the top shelf, I can just make him do it.

Blog #8

Today, I went to the Co-Rec for a good two hours and played basketball. After that my stomach was hurting and I did not really know why. Not only did my stomach hurt I was also exhausted and sore. During one of the games I collided knees with a guy who had at least seventy-five pounds on me, but it seems like he took the worst of the collision. After basketball I came back and Kaiyi took a group of guys from our floor to East China Market. On the outside and as you walked in, the place looked like a typical convenience store except everything was in Chinese. However, in the back of the market was a restaurant. I personally am not a big fan of Chinese food, so I was interested in seeing if this was any different than the Chinese food my family eats at home. When we arrived at the counter for the restaurant they counted us and escorted us into a back room with a large circular table with a Lazy Susan in the middle. The table had plates with chopsticks on them, so I was afraid to ask for a fork. The meal was good but it tasted like all of the Chinese food I had at home, however, the menu was more expansive at that restaurant than the one at my house. After everyone had an upset stomach and the walk home from Chauncey was long and grueling. After tonight I think I'll need a nice long break from Chinese food.

PSA blog #7

So for the PSA assignment has been a semi frustrating one, partially because I got sick with the flu this past week and missed four days of classes. It wasn't even one of those sicknesses where you could be productive, instead it was cold sweats, vomitting, and other fantastic things that took up my week. On top of that it just felt like the direction of the project is unclear from a step by step view. Like it's obvious how we go about the assignment but we keep getting poor grades on the individual steps when we think our direction is obviously clear. Like for small issues including the statistics that aren't the easiest things to find from a legitimate source of god information on bike safety and sidewalk safety. On top of that for the story board it's hard to know what kinds of effects work for each project because its part of the editing process. Like you can never know what song really works till you actually try it out, which makes it extremely hard to say "we're using this song for this part of the video, but we haven't seen how the footage is and if the song will fit it or not." It's just frustrating that we get poor grades on things that its honestly hard to know from a editing viewpoint. I guess I may be the only one that understands the because I've worked with a lot of video editing processes and kinds of editing. You can never be sure in video editing until you try it.

Blog #9

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and I cannot be more excited. Not only the holiday itself is exciting, but also the thought of having a break from classes is beyond exciting. I cannot wait to go home for six days to spend time with family and friends, and especially spend time sleeping. I feel like I am never fully rested while I am at school. It is most likely because I am up past two o’ clock in the morning doing homework and studying for all my classes. Speaking of staying up late, I figured I would be doing a lot of that with this PSA project, but surprisingly I have not. My group and I have managed our time very well and completed all parts of the assignment in an orderly fashion. Therefore we have no had many late nights, for this I am very thankful. I do not think my body can handle many more sleepless nights before I might actually collapse of sleep depravation. On the bright side, my classes have been going very well. My limited amounts of sleep at night do pay off when it comes to my grades. I continue to remember that I am here for one reason and it is to do well in school above all. 

blog #10 ( although i think im wrong)

So PSA’s.  I was super excited to start ours because we are doing it on the new REC center. I was looking forward to explore the new place and learn all that it had to offer.  Although after learning more about PSA’s and how short they need to be it’s going to be near impossible to include all the information we want about the new REC center. We were hoping to get our filming done ahead of time so as not to have to scramble at the end to get everything finished. However, things aren’t going as planned. Our group consulted our schedules and decided to start filming Thursday night, after my BIO 203 test. Jessica and I walked over to the gym and watched the rock climbers while we waited for Jeremy and Charles to get there. Part of our video involves filming us on the rock and bouldering walls and on the courts and I was really excited to do that. I like rock climbing and I’ve never played racquetball before, which is what we planned on playing on the courts so I was looking forward to filming our PSA. However, after I came back from changing into my rock climbing pants, my group told me that we had to get permission to film in the REC center. I was bummed.  Now I wouldn’t be rock climbing and our timeline would be messed up and pushed back.  We were told we had to contact this one guy and Jessica got his contact information and I’m not sure if she’s been able to contact him yet. This worries me because I don’t want to put off filming our PSA any longer, but we need permission first so we can’t do anything else until we receive permission!

Blog #9

I’m nervous and excited about this PSA project.  I really like our topic – squirrels – and I think our ideas are so funny.  I just hope it comes out really good.  I’ve been looking like a crazy person recently taking videos and pictures of squirrels around campus.  After English Thursday, I was with Taylor when she got a really good video of this squirrel that got so close.  I would rustle leaves and it would go towards the leaves.  The squirrel didn’t look crazy, but I can’t help thinking he’s not all there in the head…  Well anyway, I think we have some pretty good footage, and I can’t wait until next week to start filming some more!  So right now I’m just getting some homework done before work, like the good student I am.  Just like five minutes ago I submitted my take home quiz 3 for EDPS.  And it’s not even due until Tuesday.  Whhaaatt?  I know.  I’m that on the ball.  Math homework is a different story.  I went to lecture today and I’m not sure we even talked about what’s on the homework.  It should be interesting.  Whenever I decide to start that.  On a side note my roommate thinks I suck at ghetto texting.  I’ll have to work on that I guess.  Foh shizzle.

Since my weekend was anything but eventful, I am going to write about my college experience so far. I came to Purdue knowing that I was going to have to work harder than in high school, but the details of my expectations were a little fuzzy. Now, after being here for almost three months I feel like I have a pretty good feeling of what the next four years will be like. For the coursework side of things, it has had its highs and lows. I have been doing well in many of my courses such as English, EDPS, and Sociology. I feel like these courses come more naturally to me rather than having to work harder than most. On the other hand, when it comes to my calculus and nutrition classes I feel that I am struggling a little bit more. I don’t think I am struggling dramatically, but I feel like I could be doing better. First semester is almost over, but we are not quite there yet. I have enough time to improve my work and gain more control over my college experience.
